About DILIGENT

History & Philosophy

DILIGENT was born out of a love of learning, a curiosity about homes, and a desire to share that information with others. The original goal? To turn the complicated and the technical into bit-sized pieces that everyone could consume. Our owner took a background in building science and the trades and added two simple things that have made us successful: a healthy dose of common sense and a relentless pursuit of high-quality customer service.

A home inspector, at the core, is there to observe and report, or at least that is what the industry has been teaching over the last thirty years. However, at DILIGENT, we feel that that basic operation isn’t enough. To go further, a good inspector must work toward diagnosis, that is to explain the WHY behind the WHAT. But, a truly DILIGENT inspector must be a storyteller. Seeing the home for what it is, understanding the why behind it, and weaving that into a story that any home buyer can understand, regardless of their background is truly what sets DILIGENT apart year after year.

Mission & Values

At the end of the day, our mission is about two things above all else: Education & Caring for Families. The home inspector is unlike any other tradesperson, in that our value rests in our ability to help people through knowledge and education. We don’t fix things, but we also don’t just “find things” either; we help people understand what is found.

We all fear what we do not understand, and for the majority of people, there are many unknowns in the home-buying process. Investing in such a large asset without truly understanding the home can feel daunting. As home inspectors, we understand that knowledge dispels fear, and if we can educate and empower our homebuyers and clients through our process, then we can be a positive force in helping take them one step closer to that American Dream.

We bring these same ideas into our company culture as well. Our goal is to create an environment where employees can learn, thrive, and create opportunities for themselves.
